Unfortunately, we received an apologetic notification from the theater about our upcoming field trip. Due to the low sales numbers/viewings for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the theater will not be retaining the movie at the Icon Movie Theater. We still will be attending the theater field trip, however, we will be replace the original movie with Captain Underpants.
Parents and guardians, please sign below stating that you acknowledge the change in the movie for our June 15th field trip at 10:30 AM.

Room 203-5th Grade Winter Activities
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
Room 203 is going to celebrate the end of the year by participating in a few traditional activities. Although these activities are not mandatory, we would like to create lasting memories for the students. Please see the activities below for an update of our classroom activities.
Wednesday, December 16th-Holiday Show
Your child is more than welcome to stay after school in Room 203. Please send a note and snacks/dinner for your child since it will be a long day. The performance for parents starts at 6PM. (Students not staying at school must return to school by 5:30PM).
Thursday, December 17th-Locker Decorating Contest
Your child will have an opportunity to decorate their lockers for a classroom contest. I will provide wrapping paper and bows. Students can bring other items to customize their lockers. (Be creative, create a theme, and decorate away) Winners will be announced on Friday. Winners will receive prizes Friday.
Friday, December 18th-Secret Santa Gift Exchange
Students will exchange gifts with their Secret Santa. Please stay in the price range of $8-$10 for gifts. Do not reveal your Secret Santa to anyone! It’s a SECRET!!!
Friday, December 18th-Winter Activity Stations
Students will participate in different rotating stations (Arts and Crafts, Ipads, winter puzzles, etc.).

Additionally, please include the story elements that we have covered this quarter-point of view, character traits, figurative language, point of view, and theme.

Unfortunately, we received an apologetic notification from the theater about our upcoming field trip. Due to the low sales numbers/viewings for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the theater will not be retaining the movie at the Icon Movie Theater. We still will be attending the theater field trip, however, we will be replace the original movie with Captain Underpants.

Requirements
1. Each comic strip will contain dialogue (word bubbles) and narration (square narration boxes).

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
Room 203 is going to celebrate the end of the year by participating in a few traditional activities. Although these activities are not mandatory, we would like to create lasting memories for the students. Please see the activities below for an update of our classroom activities.
Wednesday, December 16th-Holiday Show
Your child is more than welcome to stay after school in Room 203. Please send a note and snacks/dinner for your child since it will be a long day. The performance for parents starts at 6PM. (Students not staying at school must return to school by 5:30PM).
Thursday, December 17th-Locker Decorating Contest
Your child will have an opportunity to decorate their lockers for a classroom contest. I will provide wrapping paper and bows. Students can bring other items to customize their lockers. (Be creative, create a theme, and decorate away) Winners will be announced on Friday. Winners will receive prizes Friday.
Friday, December 18th-Secret Santa Gift Exchange
Students will exchange gifts with their Secret Santa. Please stay in the price range of $8-$10 for gifts. Do not reveal your Secret Santa to anyone! It’s a SECRET!!!

Video/Radio Project
1st Quarter Video/Radio Project-5th Grade
Directions: Prepare a movie or radio segment that tells a story. The story must include the primary literary devices we are learning about: flashback and foreshadowing. Additionally, please include the story elements that we have covered this quarter-point of view, character traits, figurative language, point of view, and theme.
Due Date: Tuesday, November 10th
Points: 100 Points
Apps: You can use the following iPad apps to develop your video or radio story segment: Free apps-- Tell About, Slo Pro, Drop n Roll, and Sock Puppet (feel free to use any other apps that you are comfortable using)
Components: Your video or radio project will be assessed on the following:
- Literary elements (plot, characters, setting, foreshadowing and flashback)
- Creativity-Is your story creative and original?
- Quality-Did you (your group) put forth a quality production with adequate sound, pictures, props, etc.
- Entertaining-Were your classmates engaged in your production?
- Cohesion-Is the story accurately presented and does the story make sense to the audience?
- Clarity-the following elements are clear in the project: theme, figurative language, point of view, characteristics, flashback, and foreshadowing
